Global Perspectives on Climate Justice - Online Talks

In Germany, discussions about the consequences of climate change often focus primarily on the impacts that we already experience or expect to experience locally. Yet the people who suffer most from climate change—largely caused by the Global North—are rarely heard. With our online lecture series, we aim to change this.

We have invited speakers from different continents and countries, including South Africa, Bolivia, Indonesia, India, Ghana, and Germany, to share firsthand insights into the effects of climate change in their regions. Seeing the realities of people in other parts of the world—and understanding how their lives are connected to our patterns of consumption—is an important step towards greater climate justice.

The event is organized by Eine-Welt-Landesnetzwerk MV e.V., Zentrum für Ökologie, Natur- und Umweltschutz e.V. (ZÖNU), and Freiberger Agenda 21 e.V., as part of the programme weltoffen, solidarisch, dialogisch (WSD) in Kooperation mit dem Sächsische Entwicklungspolitische Bildungstage e.V. (SEBIT)

Dr. Vivian Naa Ayelesa Acquaye (Ghana): "Catch them young; an exploration of children's perception and attitude towards climate change in Winneba, Ghana"

Vivian Naa Ayelesa Acquaye is a Senior Researcher in Childhood Studies and Children's Literature at the University of Winneba, Ghana. Vivian does research in Literary Theory, World Literature, Children's Literature, Childhood Studies and Adult Education. Her presentation will focus on Basic School children's knowledge and attitude towards climate change.
